MECA Therapies is seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Pediatric Outpatient Clinic team.

Our outpatient clinics provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to children and young adults with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, sensory, and behavioral challenges in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats children and adolescents with developmental delays, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, feeding difficulties, and other diagnoses that impact daily functioning.

The OT develops individualized treatment plans, collaborates with families and healthcare providers, and delivers evidence-based interventions designed to improve independence, participation, and quality of life.

Services are provided primarily within MECA Therapies' outpatient pediatric clinics.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current or eligible licensure through the New Mexico Board of Occupational Therapy.
• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Preferred

• Pediatric Occupational Therapy experience.
• Experience with sensory integration, feeding therapy, fine motor development, visual-motor integration, handwriting, and activities of daily living.
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and neurological disorders.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations using standardized assessment tools.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and family goals.
• Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions for children and adolescents.
• Address fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, handwriting, sensory processing, feeding, self-care, executive functioning, adaptive equipment, and daily living skills.
• Educate and coach parents and caregivers to support progress outside of therapy sessions.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Collaborate with Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, physicians, educators, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
• Maintain a safe, engaging, and child-friendly therapeutic environment.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition recommendations.
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and student interns when assigned in accordance with New Mexico licensing regulations.
• Participate in clinic quality improvement initiatives and community outreach activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Caseload & Productivity Expectations

• Maintain an assigned outpatient caseload based on clinic needs.
• Provide high-quality occupational therapy services while meeting established productivity expectations.
• Manage evaluations, treatment sessions, re-evaluations, caregiver education, and documentation efficiently.
• Collaborate with clinic leadership regarding scheduling and patient care.

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and within required timelines.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential patient records.
• Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and payer requirements.
• Participate in documentation reviews and quality assurance audits.
• Comply with all HIPAA, payer, state licensing, accreditation, and MECA Therapies policies.

Professional Development

• Occupational Therapists are expected to:
• Maintain active New Mexico Occupational Therapy licensure.
• Complete all required continuing education.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
• Stay current with evidence-based pediatric occupational therapy practices.
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring activities.

Supervision

• Licensed Occupational Therapists may supervise:
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs)
• Occupational Therapy students
• Student interns and observers

Supervision is provided in accordance with the New Mexico Occupational Therapy Practice Act, licensing board requirements, and MECA Therapies' supervision guidelines.
