Registered Nurse (RN) - Med-Surg/Telemetry Float

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Med-Surg/Telemetry Float position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing, along with the ability to provide patient care across a diverse population from adolescents to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy and managing chronic ventilator needs.
• Float between multiple units as necessary, particularly in a Telemetry setting.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage and respond to dysrhythmias effectively.
• Administer medications including heparin, cardiac, and vasoactive drips without titration.
• Perform advanced respiratory procedures, including management of chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, and tracheostomy care.
• Administer IV therapy, manage central and PICC lines, and perform phlebotomy.
• Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams when needed.
• Participate in patient education and promote a safe environment for patient care.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of RN experience, with at least 2 years in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing.
• Time spent working in California is required.
• Must possess current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Experience with orthopedic surgical cases, particularly total joint orthopedics, is preferred.
• Must be proficient in reading cardiac strips.

Shift and Scheduling

• Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30).
• Every other weekend coverage is required.
• Availability for full 13-week contract as needed.

Unit Information

• Average census: 36 patients.
• Room/Bed count: 36.
• Nursing ratios: 1:4.

Professional Attire

• Scrubs: Royal Blue.
