Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of large-scale construction projects. Working alongside the Project Manager, this role helps maintain project schedules, budgets, documentation, and contractor performance while supporting safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor project schedules, costs, resources, and milestones; identify issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Prepare project reports, including cost accruals, status updates, and weekend coverage plans.
• Coordinate with field teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep work progressing.
• Support procurement, risk management, scope changes, quality assurance, and project turnover.
• Provide field technical/IT support to construction coordinators.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and development of policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Follow NIPSCO project management standards and established governance processes.

Qualifications

• Technical bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of technical experience, or 5 years of relevant project, architectural, engineering, or technical experience.
• Working knowledge of project management methods, scheduling, cost controls, risk management, and reporting tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and in field environments involving noise, dust, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and chemical hazards.
• Valid driver’s license.
