CHRISTUS Children’s, a world‑class 240‑bed freestanding children’s hospital in San Antonio, serves as a focal point for pediatric services throughout the community. In 2013, CHRISTUS Health finalized an agreement partnering with Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) to recruit, employ, and oversee physicians and advanced practice providers at CHRISTUS Children’s.

Division Summary
The Division of Emergency Medicine, in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a board‑certified pediatric emergency medicine physician at the Associate or Professor rank as Chief of the Division. The candidate’s credentials and experience will determine the rank of the academic appointment.
Highlights: the division consists of 23 physicians and 19 advanced practice practitioners. The position will have dedicated administrative time to develop and grow the division of pediatric emergency medicine. The position is employed by Baylor College of Medicine and offers a highly competitive salary and excellent benefits package, including paid relocation.
Job Duties
- Provide strong leadership to the section to deliver outstanding medical care, research, and education.
- Develop long‑range plans for the division.
- Recommend division appointments and promotions to the PIC/ Vice Chair.
- Stimulate and support research studies in the division.
- Demand the highest quality of medical care for patients.
- Demonstrate and demand the highest ethical and professional behavior.
- Manage budgets and maintain positive financial performance for the division.
- Provide care for critically ill and injured children in an Emergency Department setting and teach fellows, residents, medical students, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree; be BE/BC in Pediatric Emergency Medicine; and have or obtain a Texas medical license.
- Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Pediatricians with significant emergency department experience are also encouraged to apply.
