System Safety Engineer

Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a system safety engineer who will be a part of the system safety and certification organization. As part of this team, you will perform system safety assessments of flight-critical components and propulsion system and sub-systems for electric VTOL aircraft. Responsibilities Conduct system safety assessments (FHA, FMEA, FTA, CCA) across aircraft systems in accordance with ARP4761 with an emphasis on electric propulsion systemsEstablish, review and manage safety requirements Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, software, and hardware engineering teams to identify safety issues and provide inputsParticipate in design reviews, providing safety input throughout the aircraft development lifecycleMaintain system safety artifacts and keep them updated with design and configuration changes Required Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of industry experienceAdvanced engineering degree in the above fields (M.S. or Ph.D.) and 3+ years of professional experience Desired Experience with electric motors and power electronics Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $126,700 - $160,000/yr.
