Senior Data Engineer

Location: Reston, VA (Onsite 3 Days Per Week) Employment Type: Full-Time. W2 Only, No sponsorship available Tier4 Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help build and mature a modern enterprise data platform within a highly respected, mission-driven financial services organization. This is an opportunity to do more than build pipelines. You'll play a key role in shaping how data is governed, cataloged, standardized, and delivered across the enterprise. Working closely with both business and technology stakeholders, you'll help transform complex, siloed data into trusted, analytics-ready assets that support critical business decisions. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, influencing architecture, improving data quality, and helping organizations advance their data maturity. What You'll Do Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and integrations across multiple enterprise systems. Develop cloud-based data solutions using Azure technologies. Standardize, cleanse, transform, and validate data to improve quality and consistency. Establish and automate data quality controls, monitoring, and governance processes. Develop analytics-ready datasets, dimensional models, and curated business data assets. Support data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives. Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions. Contribute to the evolution of the enterprise data platform, architecture, and engineering standards. Monitor and improve data platform performance, reliability, and observability. Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience in production environments. Strong experience designing and building enterprise data pipelines and integrations. Expertise in ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts. Advanced SQL skills and strong Python development experience. Experience with data profiling, data quality, and governance initiatives. Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field. Preferred Technical Experience Microsoft Purview SQL Data Management Data Modeling Data Warehousing Data Governance Data Cataloging Metadata Management DevOps & Monitoring Monitoring and Observability tools Preferred Background Financial Services, Banking, Capital Markets, or other highly regulated industries. Experience supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, or modernization initiatives. Experience working in environments where data quality, governance, and compliance are critical.
