OverviewEsri’s Professional Services is looking for a full stack developer with a front-end focus to contribute across a suite of innovative GIS software products in indoor mapping, transportation, utilities, and system observability. In this role, you’ll craft intuitive, high-performance user interfaces that bring clarity to complex spatial and real-time data. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions built on ArcGIS to visualize, analyze, and interact with geospatial data, drive intelligent automation and predictive insights through AI, and bring real-world spatial data into digital environments through reality capture and digital twins. If you’re passionate about building elegant interfaces that make advanced technologies approachable and actionable, we’d love to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain responsive user interfaces using frameworks like React and other JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, with an emphasis on clarity, performance, and maintainabilityCreate clear, interactive visualizations and intuitive UI components that support data-driven decision-making and elegant user experiencesCollaborate across the stack to define efficient APIs and data models that optimize front-end responsiveness and reduce latencyWrite clean, modular, and maintainable code, and actively participate in peer reviews to uphold code quality and consistencyPartner with UX designers and product engineers in a cross-functional team to implement user-centric features and capabilities across a variety of devicesParticipate in Scrum ceremonies, contributing to iterative development cycles and continuous improvement of front-end deliverablesWork closely with product engineers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues across a variety of devicesMentor junior front-end developers, share knowledge, and stay current with emerging front-end technologies, frameworks, and best practicesRequirements5+ years of experience in software development, with an emphasis on front-end engineering and building user-centric web applicationsProficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, with extensive experience in frameworks such as React, and a solid understanding of front-end integration patterns utilizing REST APIsProficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design techniques across desktop, tablet, and mobile platformsProven experience with common design patterns (such as MVVM, MVC), front-end architecture principles, and applying best practices like SOLID and DRYProficient in SQL query syntax and interacting with common RDBMS systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and OracleExperience with Git and Agile methodologies, contributing effectively to cross-functional teams and iterative delivery cyclesStrong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to clearly present front-end technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPurpose-driven mindset, with a focus on understanding user needs and the “why” behind design and development decisionsCollaborative and committed to continuous improvement, taking a leadership role in design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharingBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related STEM fieldRecommended QualificationsMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM fieldWorking knowledge of the Esri Calcite Design System and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, or similar mapping frameworks, to build interactive and accessible map-based user interfacesProficient in RDBMS concepts (such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) to understand data structures and support data consumptionProficient with front-end CI/CD tools and practices to ensure code quality, performance, and security - such as Webpack, ESLint, Snyk, and SonarQubeExperience using ArcGIS or equivalent mapping software, with a focus on integrating and visualizing geospatial data within web applications#LI-DR5Total RewardsEsri’s competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
