Computer TechnicianGatesville ISD Technology Department2026 - 2027 School YearFLSA Status: Nonexempt, 226 DaysReports to: Director of TechnologyPrimary Purpose:Deliver timely and effective technology services to all campuses and administrative departments. Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDTechnical degree or similar (preferred)Technology industry certifications (preferred)Clear and valid driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of computer workstation setup and imaging (identify requirement–i.e., Windows workstation).Knowledge of computer hardware and software applicationsKnowledge of various operating systems (Windows 11, Chrome, Apple)Knowledge of Chromebook and Apple devices including MDM softwareKnowledge of Microsoft Windows maintenanceKnowledge of Group PoliciesProficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and Google Applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides)Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardwareAbility to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers and scannersAbility to diagnose problems and perform repairsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsSubject to assignmentMajor Responsibilities and DutiesTechnical Support:Complete district wide helpdesk tickets and assist end-users to resolve problems relating to computer and technology services in a timely manner.Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computers and peripherals, network cabling, and network equipment throughout the district. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.Install and perform repairs to equipment, including printers, computers, Chromebooks, iPads, scanners, projectors, document cameras, interactive whiteboards, wired and wireless connections and devices, audio visuals and peripherals.Install and configure application and operating system software and upgrades.Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair data communications circuits and equipment.Maintain district wide student devices, and support campuses during testing windows to include state, benchmark testing etc.Provide technical assistance, equipment, and support during professional development sessions, assemblies, presentations, school board meetings, graduation and special events etc.Work cooperatively with staff to assist with logins and passwords.Service equipment according to an established preventative maintenance schedule.
