Position: Bioinformatics Scientist

Admera Health is hiring a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our growing Bioinformatics team in South Plainfield, NJ.

We are looking for a motivated, technically skilled scientist with expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS), multi-omics data analysis, and computational pipeline development.

The ideal candidate will have strong programming and analytical skills, hands-on experience with bioinformatics workflows, and an interest in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to advance genomics research.

Key Responsibilities

NGS & Multi-Omics Analysis

\n
• Perform routine and advanced bioinformatics analyses for WGS, WES, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing projects.

• Develop customized analytical approaches to address challenging scientific questions and client-specific requirements.
\n

AI/ML & Bioinformatics Innovation

\n
• Research, evaluate, and implement AI/ML-based tools and analytical pipelines.
\n
• Explore applications of AI/ML in genomics, quality control, workflow automation, and multi-omics data interpretation.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve analytical accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
\n

Pipeline Development & Computational Infrastructure

\n
• Develop, optimize, and maintain reproducible workflows using Nextflow, Snakemake, nf-core , or similar frameworks.
\n
• Deploy and support bioinformatics pipelines across local Linux systems, SLURM-based HPC clusters, and AWS cloud environments .
\n
• Collaborate with IT teams to improve computing infrastructure and workflow performance.
\n
• Maintain documentation, version control, and reproducibility standards.
\n

Scientific & Client Collaboration

\n
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists, project managers, and clients to translate research objectives into computational solutions.
\n
• Evaluate technical feasibility, define analytical requirements, and provide realistic project timelines.
\n
• Interpret results, troubleshoot analytical challenges, and communicate scientific findings clearly.
\n

Qualifications

Education & Experience

\n
• M.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a closely related field.
\n
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in academic research, clinical laboratories, biotechnology, or industry.
\n

Required Technical Skills

\n
• Strong proficiency in Python, R, Bash/Shell scripting , and Linux command-line tools.
\n
• Solid understanding of genomics, molecular biology, and NGS technologies.
\n
• Hands-on experience with bioinformatics analyses across multiple omics applications.
\n
• Experience developing or maintaining computational pipelines using Nextflow, Snakemake, or nf-core .
\n
• Experience working with Linux, HPC, or cloud computing environments.
\n
• Ability to interpret complex bioinformatics results and communicate scientific insights effectively.
\n
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Experience applying AI/ML or deep learning methods to genomics or computational biology.
\n
• Experience with single-cell and spatial transcriptomics analysis.
\n
• Familiarity with long-read sequencing data analysis.
\n
• Experience with Docker, Singularity/Apptainer , or other containerization tools.
\n
• Familiarity with AWS and scalable cloud-based computational infrastructure.
\n
