Position Overview The Associate Planning Director is responsible for serving as strategic lead on one or two small accounts and providing strategic support on larger, integrated accounts. The role includes leading smaller new‑business opportunities with a degree of autonomy, understanding clients’ specific markets, competition, and target audience insights, and translating those insights into actionable brand strategy. The director ensures the planning team continuously develops strategic skill sets to uncover the most compelling insights and differentiate a brand in a compelling perspective, constantly pushing to make Famously Effective work. Key Responsibilities Lead one or two client relationships and serve as consultant with clear strategic advice. Partner with other agency departments to ensure strategic thinking is incorporated throughout agency work. Lead the strategic component of new‑business pitches. Serve as lead team member on the brand team, ensuring the quality of strategic and creative deliverables. Develop an immersive understanding of market dynamics, customer mindset, competitive environment, brand goals, and industry trends to deliver insights that inspire creative teams and create measurable marketing impact. Own and command client relationships at senior levels. Develop strategic deliverables, including competitive analysis, brand positioning, creative core idea, market research synthesis, creative brief, workshops, and brand plans. Uncover key customer market insights as the basis for strategies and communication that change perceptions and influence behavior to create a competitive advantage. Lead brand and creative strategy development, including positioning, targeting, and creative briefs that inspire great creative. Craft well‑written insight‑strategy presentations for new and existing business, with the ability to analyze, reflect, distill, and story‑tell. Develop, direct, and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for insight identification. Manage and mentor the team to foster engagement through learning and development, leading to career growth at all levels. Contribute to the overall agency culture through exemplary modeling of our core values. Work cross‑functionally within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies. Serve as a thought leader and subject‑matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large. What You Will Need Skilled in storytelling and public speaking. Experienced in leading new‑business presentations and workshops. 6–8 years of experience in advertising or a related industry. Deep expertise in oncology.
