We seek people who understand these values to join our team.Our ideal candidate is someone who will connect the community to our resources to further our primary mission as a customer-centered public library providing vital services to the people of St. Louis.This position will provide individual assistance and homework help to young customers, as well as implement key Library initiatives like 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and Summer Challenge. This position advances the Library's mission by ensuring that all young people who visit the Library feel welcomed and supported.In this role you will:Ensure that youth and caregivers who visit the Library feel welcomed, have a positive experience, and find resources that meet their needs.Assist in the facilitation of regularly scheduled youth programming activities, including programs and camps.Promote and implement key Library programs like 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and Operation Food Search meals.Read with children and help with their homework.Support with daily circulation tasks.You will need to be:Friendly, outgoing, and able to work with children and their caregivers.Comfortable providing homework support to children of all agesAble to supervise children and teen use of the Library, including setting boundaries and redirecting children and teens as neededComfortable supporting with group activitiesYou will need to have:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience working with children in a professional settingStrong communication, writing, and speaking skillsComfort with using and learning new technology as the Library continues to evolve.Benefits include:Competitive pay rate starting at $15.82Paid sick and personal leaveMedical, dental, vision, and life insurance401(a) Plan457(b) Deferred Compensation PlanProfessional development opportunitiesPartial tuition reimbursement for approved coursesScheduleThursday 4 - 8, Fridays and Saturdays 8:40-5:10, hours subject to change.About Buder Library:Located in the heart of the St. Louis South Hampton neighborhood in southwest St. Louis, the Buder Library is a vital community anchor surrounded by popular shops and restaurants. With dedicated programming for all ages—including children's activities and literacy initiatives—the library is committed to fostering health, education, and social connection within the neighborhood.Originally built in 1922.
