Job Title: Production Planner / Scheduler Job Description

The Production Planner / Scheduler develops, maintains, and manages the master production schedule (MPS) to support efficient operations, on-time delivery, and optimal use of resources. This role serves as the central coordination point among sales, engineering, production, and procurement to align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, ensuring materials, labor, and equipment are effectively planned and utilized.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage the master production schedule (MPS) to meet customer demand and delivery commitments.
• Coordinate closely with sales, engineering, production, and procurement teams to align demand with manufacturing capacity.
• Analyze capacity, inventory levels, and material availability to create realistic and efficient production plans.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to plan and update production orders, material requirements, and scheduling changes.
• Leverage advanced Excel and data analysis skills to monitor performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance production planning efficiency and overall operational performance.
• Apply supply chain and logistics knowledge to optimize material flow and reduce bottlenecks in the production process.
• Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address issues that may impact on-time delivery or resource utilization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate schedule changes, priorities, and constraints clearly and promptly.
• Utilize 6S methodology and strong organizational practices to maintain accurate, well-structured planning data and documentation.
• Manage time effectively and work under pressure to adjust schedules and respond to changing customer or production needs.
• Drive results through a proactive approach, taking initiative to resolve problems and improve planning processes.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational skills with practical knowledge of 6S methodology.

• Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
• Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems for planning and scheduling.

• Understanding of capacity planning, inventory management, forecasting, and logistics.

• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work proactively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing facility is highly beneficial.
• Comfort working with large production departments and complex workflows.
• High proficiency in Excel beyond basic functions, including the ability to handle large data sets.
• Interest in continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders in sales, engineering, production, and procurement.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fabrication manufacturing facility with a large production department, where you will be closely connected to shop-floor operations and scheduling activities. The position operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. You will work with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel tools in a fast-paced, production-focused environment that emphasizes organization, safety, and efficiency.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bardstown, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
