Nuclear Pharmacist - RadiologyThe University of Iowa Healthcare Department of Radiology is seeking Nuclear Pharmacist to provide patient-oriented service that embodies the scientific knowledge and professional judgement required to improve and promote health through assurance of the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.Position Responsibilities:Prepares and dispenses radioactive drugs and devices in accordance with physician orders and in compliance with Federal and State regulations and Departmental policiesPerforms appropriate quality control tests on radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Federal and State regulations, professional practice standards, and Departmental policiesMaintains records of all transactions, monitoring and test results, and other documentation in compliance with Federal and State regulations, professional practice standards and University and Departmental policiesMaintains appropriate inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and supplies, storing under proper conditions to ensure security, radiation safety, and stabilityProcures radiopharmaceuticals and supplies in compliance with Federal and State regulations and University and Departmental policiesReceives and unpacks radiopharmaceuticals and supplies in compliance with Federal and State regulations and University and Departmental policiesPacks and ships expired radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive sources in compliance with Federal and State regulations and University and Departmental policiesStores and disposes of radioactive waste, hazardous chemical waste, and biologic waste in compliance with Federal and State regulations and University and Departmental policiesParticipates in provision of Departmental in-service education and training programs, and in the education and training of students, residents, and othersAssists in research and other special projects, including radio pharmacy activities associated with Investigational New Drugs and clinical trialsProvides information to physicians, other healthcare personnel, patients, and others regarding choice of radiopharmaceutical, dosage, side effects, radiation exposure, drug interactions, purposeful drug interventions, and other radiopharmaceutical informationAssists in the review and revision of the UI Health Care Formulary and Handbook, Departmental policies and procedures, and other documentsAssists in planning Departmental goals, preparing Departmental budgets, and determining radiopharmaceutical supply chargesServes as liaison between the Department and other areas such as UI Health Care Pharmacy Department and the University's Environmental Health and Safety OfficeParticipates in preparation for and during inspections by various entities including Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, and The Joint CommissionSupervision Received: General supervision is received from the Director of Nuclear Medicine. Click hereQualifications:Education Requirements: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree Experience Requirements: 2 years experience in nuclear pharmacy practice Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment Certification Requirements: Eligibility for or current license by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners Recognition as an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Iowa Department of Public Health Desirable Qualifications: Active board certification in Nuclear Pharmacy Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple stakeholders and tasks, manage details, and deliver results in an environment with competing demands.
