Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel PCU RN Job Breakdown (Short) Shift: 3x12 Nights (18:45–07:15) Weekly Hours: ~36 hrs (guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks) Unit: PCU / Stepdown / Telemetry (MS/Tele, ED holding, IMC) Ratio: 1:5 Charting/Monitoring: Tele + EPIC-type systems Floating: Yes (MSI units + ED holding as needed) Charge RN: May be assigned On-call: Not required Block schedule: Not available Core Responsibilities Direct PCU Care (High Acuity): ~18–20 hrs/week Stepdown/tele patients (cardiac, neuro, respiratory, post-op, sepsis) Cardiac & Telemetry Monitoring: ~6–7 hrs/week Dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac monitoring, rapid response support Medications & IV Therapy: ~6 hrs/week IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), blood products, central/PICC lines Respiratory & Support Care: ~4–5 hrs/week HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, trach care, chest tubes, oxygen therapy Procedures & Clinical Skills: ~3–4 hrs/week Phlebotomy, wound care, feeding tubes, post-cath/post-MI care, dialysis support Coordination & Documentation: ~3–4 hrs/week EMR charting, handoffs, interdisciplinary communication, rapid response involvement Key Requirements RN License (active only — no pending) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required 2+ years experience required MS/Tele or Stepdown experience within last year (mandatory) Teaching hospital + charge RN experience preferred First-time travelers accepted RTO: max 7 days per contract Locals accepted (radius policy applies) About Malone Healthcare - Nursing With a commitment to providing a higher standard of service and experience in patient care, Malone Healthcare places expert nurses and allied health professionals in rewarding careers throughout the United States.
