The Outside Sales Representative generates sales, manages new and existing customer relationships, negotiates and interfaces with customers and suppliers, while adhering to company policies and procedures. They work cooperatively with inside sales, project managers, quotation specialists, and other members of the distribution team to grow existing customers, to create new customers and meet or exceed monthly sales quotas at the appropriate gross margin while increasing customer satisfaction. Qualify leads to determine potential business opportunitiesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors through regular follow-up, meetings, and personalized service. Provide value-added service. Manage customer expectations and resolve issues to retain businessNegotiate and Close Sales Discuss terms and agreements with customers to close deals. Overcome objections and finalize salesManage Customer Orders including writing orders, overseeing submittal, shipping, expediting, billing, and resolving any issues that ariseProvide feedback on pricing, service, products, and customer needsParticipate in sales meetings, vendor training, and collaborate with other departments to ensure tasks are completed efficientlyDocument sales activities by updating CRM systems and keeping records of sales activities, client information, and feedbackEducationHigh School Diploma or GEDAssociate’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferredExperience and/or Training3-5 years of sales experience in the electrical or construction industry, with an awareness of building and safety regulationsExperience selling to senior leadership, project managers, estimators, and buyers within commercial and residential contractors. Ability to manage complex accountsStrong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and to other employees of the organizationProject management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlinesOrganized, strong time management skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and collaborate within a multi-functional teamAbility to negotiate deals, handle objections, and close salesAbility to find and develop new leads through cold calling, networking, and referralsMath skills.
