JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: H-MD-134268 Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Ashland, Ohio Facility: OhioHealth Emergency Care-Ashland Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Aug 27, 2026 Ongoing Shift Schedule: 24-hour shifts only Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 22 patients per day Case Mix: Freestanding ED acute medical, trauma, and emergency presentations FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 8 treatment rooms + 1 resuscitation room Trauma Level: N/A (Freestanding ED) EMR System: Epic Specialty Backup Available: CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Lab onsite; stabilize and transfer as needed Support Staff Available: RNs, Technicians PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 90-120 days Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Emergency medical evaluation and management of all acuity levels Stabilization of critically ill and injured patients for transfer Interpretation of diagnostic imaging (CT, X-ray, Ultrasound) Wound care, laceration repair, and minor procedures Medical clearance and disposition planning JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM, ABFM, ABIM, or Surgery ABMS/AOA recognized) Licenses: Active unrestricted Ohio license and DEA DEA / CDS: Active DEA required to proceed Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (PALS required for non-EM boarded/eligible providers) Experience: ACGME/AOA residency in EM, IM, FM, or Surgery required Other Qualifications: Seasonal Flu and QuantiFERON required; Orientation and Epic training required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients in a freestanding ED with 24/7 physician-only coverage Evaluate, diagnose, and manage approximately 22 patients per day across eight treatment rooms and one resuscitation room Perform and interpret diagnostic studies including CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, and lab results Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate safe transfers to higher levels of care Document all patient encounters accurately in the Epic EMR system
