Coding Education Consultant - UTHP Transplant Coders

Responsibilities Assist with analyzing medical record documentation against billing documentation guidelines and educate departments and faculty on appropriately documenting the medical record for services provided to patients. Conduct quality reviews of coding activities to ensure documentation supports coding rules and coding selection in accordance with all coding and billing standards. Research and resolve coding related denials as reported. Review and resolve services in charge review to identify coding issues/trends. Recommend changes to policies and procedures to improve professional fee coding and data management. Perform all aspects of daily work in a manner that contributes to and ensures an environment of strict confidentiality. Provide feedback to providers based on quality reviews to minimize errors. Develop and perform training regarding documentation, billing and coding to inform providers of changes/updates in guidelines or activities that prevent denials or increase revenue. Provide education regarding coding, billing and documentation to end users and ancillary staff as needed. Report compliance issues detected through reviews and collaborate with Compliance to identify and implement corrective action plan to resolve issue. Requirements Knowledge of Federal, State and Payer regulations. Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding. Strong leadership skills; ability to apply judgment in making informed decisions. Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities while meeting objectives and working with teams. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented with meticulous planning and organizational skills. Five (5) years related experience is required. High School degree or GED is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jobtailor
