The Senior Accountant supports the daily operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial records, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies. This position also provides oversight and guidance to accounting staff and supports the Accounting Director as needed.

Job Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant:

• Prepare month-end and year-end financial statements and financial reports.
• Review and oversee reconciliations for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank accounts, and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare accrual entries, account schedules, and reconciliation workpapers.
• Analyze accounts and ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and applicable governmental accounting standards.
• Review expenditures and disbursements for proper authorization, classification, and compliance.
• Assist with internal and external audits and review internal controls.
• Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate assigned accounting staff.
• Assist with accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.
• Provide support to the Accounting Director and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressive governmental or nonprofit accounting experience.
• Experience working with multiple funds and/or accounts preferred.
• Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, financial reporting, fund accounting, GAAP, and governmental accounting standards.
• Proficiency with accounting, spreadsheet, database, and Microsoft Office software.
• Successful completion of required background/drug screening.

Compensation for the Senior Accountant:

$90,000 - $105,000 Annually (DOE)
