Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church in East Hartland, CT is seeking a full time Lead Pastor. Our multi-generational church averages 120 worshippers at our Sunday morning service, in addition to the online viewers. Our Mission: To make disciples who believe, obey, proclaim and live God’s Word Our Vision: To build up another generation of disciples living in the Word of Truth and making it known to those in our community and beyond Lead Pastor Responsibilities The Lead Pastor will work with and under the Elder Board where they will collaborate on tasks and responsibilities. Below is a description of base responsibilities for the Lead Pastor. Other tasks will be assigned as needed. Preaching and Teaching Plan, develop and deliver sermons at church services on a frequent regular basis Plan, develop and teach adult Sunday School as occasionally required and/or desired Coordinate with and encourage volunteers that are teaching small group studies Relationships Build relationships with members and attenders of Bethany as well as the unchurched local community through intentional contact ministry such as church events, community activities, 1 on 1 interaction, etc. Provide spiritual guidance to seekers of meaning in accordance with God’s Word Provide guidance in ministerial opportunities regarding outreach events Leadership Provide guidance and mentorship for the ministry staff, including paid and volunteer workers Assist organizing, executing and/or leading large group activities such as; mission trips, retreats, and outreach events Participate on the Elder Board, assisting with planning the spiritual direction of the church, as well as participating and providing guidance in the event of disciplinary or corrective action Qualifications Demonstrates a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This demonstration includes: Acknowledgment of the Lordship of Jesus Christ in his life Commitment to intentionally pursue maturity in his relationship with God through personal devotions, active leadership in worship services, and involvement in accountable relationships Commitment to avoid any lifestyle choices that would compromise his credibility as a witness for Christ Must exhibit excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people, including being able to relate to unchurched people. Must be able to work within a larger ministry team to lead services and oversee smaller ministry teams. Must be a motivated and effective recruiter and manager of volunteers. Must be able to cast vision, use his people skills as a relationship builder, a releaser of others with gifts and a multiplier of leaders. Must be able to problem solve, maintain and protect confidentiality. Must have excellent written, verbal and time management skills. Must exhibit computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint. Must be able to learn ministry-related computer software as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
