Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position requiring prior travel nursing experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Large, high-acuity non-trauma Emergency Department serving adolescent through geriatric patients
• Stroke and STEMI Certified facility
• 59-bed ED averaging 165–175 patients per day
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis for medication dispensing
• Evening shift, 3x12-hour shifts (13:00–01:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice on a rare, as-needed basis
• RTO must be submitted in advance; maximum of 7 days allowed, and RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
• Minimum of 2 years of ED nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; candidates with at least 3 completed ER travel contracts strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage is expected: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
• Travelers who have previously worked at this health system must have been away from all of its facilities for a full year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above) are highly preferred; charge nurse references are not accepted
• Candidates undergo a clinical screening process prior to manager review
