Registered Nurse (RN) – Burn Center (BICU/BPCU) Location: San Antonio, TX Work Setting: On-site Federal Medical Center – Burn Center Pay: $42 per hour Contract: 12-month base contract with 3 additional option periods Start Date: October 1, 2026 (or later depending on clearance) Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts – Days & Nights Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Hours: 36-40 hours per week Burn Experience NOT RequiredWe are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide professional nursing services within a high-acuity Burn Center at a major Department of Defense medical facility in San Antonio. Previous Burn Center/Burn ICU experience is NOT required. Candidates with strong Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry or equivalent acute-care nursing experience are encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RNs to expand their clinical skills into specialized burn care. The facility is the Department of Defense's largest inpatient hospital and only Level I Trauma Center, providing care in a fast-paced environment alongside military, civilian, and contract healthcare professionals.Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to inpatient burn and high-acuity patientsPerform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for changes in conditionProvide care within your RN scope of practice and established facility policiesMonitor and respond appropriately to telemetry patientsAdminister medications and treatments as orderedCollaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare teamMinimum Qualifications – Required U.S. CitizenCurrent, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, U.S. territory, or U.S. jurisdictionMinimum Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); Nursing degree must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing programAbility to provide an official nursing school transcript for federal credentialingCurrent BLS certificationCurrent ACLS or ALS certificationAt least 1 full year of RN experience in an Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit or equivalentAt least 2 years of full-time clinical nursing experience within the last 4 yearsStrong knowledge and experience with telemetry monitoringAbility to successfully complete all required federal credentialing, background/security, occupational-health, and onboarding requirementsPlease note: Burn Unit experience is not required. The required clinical experience is based on Adult Med-Surg Telemetry or equivalent nursing experience. ACLS/ALS is specifically required for healthcare workers assigned to the Burn Center.Schedule & Availability This is a 24/7 inpatient operation requiring rotating 12-hour shifts.
