Transporter (PRN)

Patient Escort

Under the direction of the supervisor or lead person, transports patients and visitors of all ages to and from various clinics and nursing units within the hospital as requested.

Reports directly to the Patient Escort Supervisor

Adheres to LCMH policies to properly identify patients using 2 patient identifiers.

Adheres to hand off communication policy.

Maintains patient safety by correctly securing patients on transfer device.

Utilizes proper body mechanics when transporting patients.

Knowledge of hospital/clinic layout and utilizes safest and most expedient route for patients delivery.

Maintains direct communication with the patient while transporting to ensure patient comfort and security.

Prioritizes transport requests.

Assists in mail collection and/or delivery when duties allow.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

CPR certified

Basic computer skills.

Effective communication skills, solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism.

Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.

The work environment may be physically confining.

Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities.

Must have normal hearing.

Ability to do shift work as required on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
