Accounting & Tax Supervisor As an Accounting & Tax Supervisor at Lott, Vernon & Company, P.C., you will be part of a team with the opportunity to oversee compilation engagements as well as lead engagements in areas of corporate and individual tax. Key Responsibilities: Lead client relationships on day‑to‑day tax matters, supporting partners developing extended service opportunities with existing clients. Plan and participate in tax and compliance projects for various clients in the middle market. Consult on technical matters and special projects in various areas of corporate and flow‑through accounting and taxation, with an emphasis on the implications to owners. Research and consult on various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested, make recommendations to the client for consideration. Coordinate with specialty tax practice on complicated tax matters in the state and local, international and credits/incentives area. Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based upon knowledge gained relative to the client’s operations, processes, and business objectives. Proactively build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client service. Team with partners on proposals and business development calls. Manage, supervise, train and lead the staff through counsel, guidance and coaching; evaluate performance and work efforts; participate in performance appraisal process. Manage engagements and projects in order to achieve specific revenue and profit objectives through the management of the client’s budget and invoicing for time incurred. Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events both internally and externally. Assist with recruiting activities to include campus recruiting along with referring experienced individuals to the firm. Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude and high ethical standards. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Licensed CPA. Seven plus years of experience in a professional services firm providing tax and accounting services including two plus year’s supervisory experience. Experience reviewing compilations, corporate returns, flow through entities, multi‑state and individual tax returns. Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications and Competencies: Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with client controllers and chief financial officers. A good balance of strong tax skills and business acumen. Desire to train, coach, and mentor. Highly developed Microsoft Suite skills. Prior experience CCH and Thomson Reuters and QuickBooks. Senior Tax Associate As a Senior Tax Associate at Lott, Vernon & Company, P.C., you will be part of a team responsible for tax preparation and review, as well as tax planning, tax accrual, and consulting work with a wide variety of clients across many industry sectors. Key Responsibilities and Qualifications: Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of federal and state income tax and accounting concepts, with the capability to perform research on and effectively apply income and non‑income tax knowledge to client situations. Develop quality compliance deliverables and tax planning approaches by providing timely and responsive services and work product that meets or exceeds client expectations. Perform due diligence, including review of tax returns, financials, and other documentation to evaluate potential tax risks and opportunities. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Possess the ability to prioritize and organize various activities and complete several tasks with strong attention to detail. Begin developing and taking responsibility for managing client relationships by communicating and responding to client expectations, gathering data relevant to the engagement, and tailoring project deliverables accordingly. Train and mentor staff members. CPA exam eligible. 2 – 4 years of professional tax experience, preferably in tax compliance. Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting. Strong analytical, research organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team. Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting. Licensed CPA. Prior experience with CCH and Thomson Reuters products and QuickBooks. Auditor Lott, Vernon & Company, P.C., CPAs, is seeking a CPA with 2-5+ years public accounting experience supervising audits and leading team members to complete necessary audit procedures and issue a timely audit opinion, as well as preparing 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 1040 income tax returns. Audit areas would be comprised of Governmental Entities and School Districts. Full time position with an excellent benefit package. Payroll processing and reporting. Support clients in various accounting systems including QuickBooks. Preparation of journal entries. Bookkeeping, bank, and general ledger reconciliation. Additional responsibilities as needed. Qualifications: High School Graduate or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience working in Accounting preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
