Quality Engineer

Position DescriptionLeads and completes moderately complex quality engineering assignments and performs statistical analysis of data to provide information to meet quality standards.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms moderately complex quality assurance assignments and projects; participates in new models development process; performs Quality Management System documentation activitiesCoordinates moderately complex product/process capability studiesLeads problem solving teams; identifies root causes, implements corrective actions and verifies effectivenessDevelops product/process procedures including development of performance metricsPerforms statistical analysis used in problem solving, quality improvement projects & Six Sigma teamsPerforms layouts, reads and understands geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Investigates customer complaints, develops corrective action plans and verifies effectivenessLeads Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) teams and the development of Control Plans.Serves as a liaison between supplier and Briggs & Stratton in quality activitiesPerforms other duties as assignedJob Skills RequirementsWell-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with diverse groups of internal and external customersAbility to prepare and present technical informationThorough technical knowledge and background of quality and manufacturing processes including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), layout and gaging; machining methods and assembly processes as well as statistical process control (SPC) and statistical techniquesThorough knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools including control plans and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Well-developed analytical, problem solving and project management skillsWell-developed time management, prioritization, organizational and planning skillsDemonstrated ability to work with individually or in a team environment, along with flexibility to ensure team coverage of all quality-related activitiesFluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or locationEducationBachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related fieldExperience RequirementsThree years of related experience in engineering, purchasing or quality fieldFundamental quality experience in machining or assembly type operationsEnterprise wide reporting system experience preferredPhysical & Environmental RequirementsDomestic and/or International travel as required up to 25%Briggs & Stratton, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provides innovative products and diverse power solutions to help people get work done.
