Barista Position at McLean Bible Church CaféMcLean Bible Church (MBC) is seeking a Barista to join our Café team. The position is responsible for preparing high-quality beverages, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate must have a passion for coffee, experimenting with flavors, developing new drinks, and showing creativity through presentation. The individual must also be able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.Work Schedule: Sundays only: 7:30 am to 2:00 pmResponsibilities (Essential Functions):Prepare and serve coffee, coffee-based drinks, tea, and other beverages following Café recipes and guidelinesTake customer orders and provide friendly, efficient serviceOperate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other equipmentEnsure proper handling and storage of ingredients and suppliesMaintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and utensilsPromote new products, specials, or seasonal offerings to customersMaintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure smooth operations and safe food handlingWhen necessary, assist with processing payments (via cash, credit/debit cards) and do so accuratelyAssist in restocking inventory as neededSupport team members and help with other tasks when necessary.Qualifications:Previous experience as a Barista preferredPrevious experience in food service or customer service will also be consideredPassion for coffee and customer serviceBasic math skills to handle monetary transactions, as necessaryFamiliarity with food safety standards and proper hygiene in a food-related environment is a plusAbility to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail, particularly in taking orders and handling paymentsAbility to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with othersWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periodsFrequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs (e.g. coffee bags, supplies)Must be able to handle hot beverages and equipment with careAbility to work in a busy environment and move quickly while providing excellent customer serviceManual dexterity to operate machinery (e.g. espresso machine, grinders).The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
