River Oaks Hospital is interviewing candidates for a full-time and PRN (as needed) positions. Candidates must be able to work flexible hours during the week. Our Dietary department has both day or night shifts. Our dietary department is open 7 days a week and closes at 7 pm The Dietary Aide is responsible for taking diet orders from patients. Responsible for explaining which diet patients are on and answering questions regarding food choices. Assist with Patient tray assembly.  Actively participates in Performance Improvement initiatives. Responsible for correcting issues relayed from patients to appropriate staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

·       Demonstrates team work with fellow employees in the dietary office.

·       Explain procedure for ordering of meals to all patients.

·       Communicate clearly and appropriately to take patient orders.

·       Practices good customer service at all times.

·       Keeping current and knowledgeable of patient diet orders and hospital menus.

·       Compiles all documentation into monthly reports specified by management staff.

·       Performs professional appearance and behavior at all times in the dietary office.

·       Facilitates in plating food items on patient trays..

·       Maintains proper sanitation of work area and equipment. Uses and follows all safety techniques in handling of equipment.

·       Assists in creating reports and handouts per management request.

·       Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding hazards identified in the work place.

·         Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.

·        Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.

·        Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues.  Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.

·        Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment.  Adheres to the hospital’s compliance program .

·        Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments.

·        Follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command.

·        Adheres to safety practices and meets requirements of National Patient Safety Goals.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications)

Education:  High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred 

Certification, Licensure:  Safe Serve & Food Handler certifications before employment is required.

Education, Knowledge, Training:  Two (2) years related experience and/or training, preferably in a hospital setting.
