Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, engaging, fun, and safe learning environment to encourage intellectual, social, emotional, and creative development.
• Plan and maintain daily schedules and routines to provide age-appropriate opportunities for learning, physical activity, rest, play, and exploration.
• Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to children's individual needs, emotions, and behaviors while encouraging healthy, positive ways to express feelings.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding children's development, accomplishments, needs, and progress.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment to promote the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
• Follow all applicable state licensing regulations, ECP policies, procedures, and standards.
• Support and contribute to ECP's mission, vision, and commitment to inclusion .
• Demonstrate flexibility and openness to change while adapting to the individual needs of children, families, and the center.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times, both on and off the clock.
• Serve as a positive representative of Every Child's Place in the workplace and within the community.

Performance Capabilities and Expectations

This position requires a great deal of patience. Children learn new skills through repetition. ECP Employees must possess the following attributes to support children's growth and development successfully:

• Embracing Mistakes with Positivity (view errors and confusion as normal parts of learning rather than personal failures)
• Purposeful Self-Control (waiting, prompting, and reteaching repetitive daily tasks and positive behaviors without rushing or showing frustration)
• Emotional Regulation (model emotional maturity, staying calm when the classroom becomes chaotic so students feel safe to de-escalate)
• Honoring Individual Pace and Comprehension (recognize that each child builds knowledge on their own timeline and processes information in different ways)
• Preparedness for any Physical Demands (such as frequently walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, and carrying children of varying weights and sizes throughout the day)
• Proactive Protective Instincts, Sharp Observational Skills, and Situational Readiness to prevent accidents before they occur.

Qualifications for a Lead Teacher

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
• Alternative education qualifications: Six college credits in Early Childhood Education OR completion of the Introduction to the Childcare Profession and Skills and Strategies for the Childcare Teacher certifications.
• Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, teaching, or a related field.
• Genuine interest in working with children of all abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, grow professionally, and embrace new ideas and approaches.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Every Child's Place is not a babysitting service. We are a professional early childhood education center dedicated to helping young children learn, grow, develop language and communication skills, build relationships, and gain the skills they need for future success.

Every Child’s Place, Inc. (ECP) is a not-for-profit early childhood education center serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in Kenosha and surrounding communities. This program was initiated in 2003 as a cooperative community collaboration with Gateway Technical College in Kenosha. We provide high-quality care and early education in a nurturing, inclusive environment, welcoming and supporting children with a variety of abilities and celebrating the uniqueness of each child. We support and embrace the employment of persons who love and appreciate the individual differences in children and who wish to contribute to shaping their lives.
