Purpose The Crime Victims Advocate helps older adults who have suffered financial exploitation; physical, emotional or sexual abuse; robbery or burglary; caregiver neglect and other crimes with supportive services to navigate the criminal justice system and respond to their resulting emotional, physical, and financial needs. Essential Functions Manage a case load of older victims of crime Accompany and support clients in court proceedings Identify emergency housing options Engage in outreach, advocacy, case management and counseling Conduct trainings and educational events on crime prevention Provide concrete services (eligibility forms, police reports, protective orders, resources, Crime Victim’s Compensation claims) Coordinate and facilitate access to services Network with community service providers Track, monitor, case note and report client events Provide Information & Referral (I&R) services Secondary Duties Maintain accurate and timely client records (per agency and HIPAA) Attend staff, team and impact area meetings Other duties as assigned Travel Requirement Considerable local travel (Louisville Metro area). Pre-Employment Requirements Background and drivers’ record check Negative TB test and drug screen Education Bachelor’s in human services or equivalent experience.
