divh2Registered Nurse Subsidiary/h2pThe RN Subsidiary will perform direct patient care activities such as lab tests, treatments, and medication administration. These are performed under the direction of the physician in preparation for the patients examination and treatment. RN will utilize nursing process to assess patients condition and direct to the appropriate level of care using internal and external resources. Carry out clerical activities. Quality control activities, performance improvement initiatives, etc. in order to support the physician and practice as assigned./ppDeliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the RN Practice Act, hospital, and/or physician practice policies, procedures, protocols and other professional standards of care./ppCollect patient health care data, including VS, weight, chief complaint and pain assessment focusing on the physical, psychosocial, age, cultural and spiritual needs for the patient./ppComplete initial assessment of the patients health history, learning needs and barriers, physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and reassess annually./ppInvolve the patient/family and other healthcare professionals when appropriate./ppComplete patient care treatments/testing as ordered by the physician./ppAdminister medications/immunizations using appropriate routes and techniques specific to age of the patient./ppComply with completeness, accuracy and timeliness of documentation./ppProvide education and instruction, within their scope of practice, to patients and families./ppAssess the patients readiness to learn, educational needs and educational barriers./ppProvide educational material and/or instruction based on assessed needs./ppDocument all education/instruction provided including topic, individual provided to and understanding./ppMaintain collaborative relationship with physicians to achieve desired patient outcomes./ppPrepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures./ppAssist the physician with treatments and procedures as requested./ppProvide for patient safety in compliance with hospital and physician practice policies./ppUtilize two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care./ppLabel all patient specimens with identifiers per policy./ppUse patient identifiers on all written documentation, including notes and point of care testing results./ppAssist in compliance with all regulatory agency requirements./ppAdhere to infection control process, including standard precautions, to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections./ppParticipate in non-punitive medication reporting./ppDemonstrate leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of professional nursing./ppDemonstrate an ability to solve problems independently and seek assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate./ppMaintain accountability for actions taken./ppDelegate patient care appropriately./ppEffectively function as a resource person./ppAct as a patient advocate./ppPerform effectively in the role of preceptor/mentor to new hires and/or students./ppAssist in maintaining/decreasing organizational/departmental costs./ppCoordinate communication between patients/families and physician practice, pharmacies, specialists and insurance carriers./ppProvide advise based on protocols and physician instructions and direct patients to the appropriate level of care./ppFacilitate patients access to prescription refills based on physician order./ppObtain prior authorizations and/or assist with indigent programs per physician order based on the patients financial status or insurance coverage./ppSupport performance improvement initiatives within the physician practice./ppAssist in data collection as directed by the manager/physician./ppIncorporate into practice performance improvement initiatives that have been implemented./ppMaintain the environment of care./ppEnsure that supplies in patient care areas are replenished daily./ppConsistently maintains a clean safe environment./ppFollow policies pertaining to daily/weekly/monthly quality control for refrigerator temperature, and equipment controls./ppPerform POC testing as ordered by the physician./ppComplete all quality control testing per policy and manufacturing guidelines./ppUse two patient identifiers, name and DOB, prior to testing./ppFollow appropriate procedures when collecting patient specimens./ppAccurately record patient test results on appropriate result form and testing log./ppIdentify results that are out of acceptable range and follow up prior to performing patient testing./ppPrepare forms, copy records and respond to requests per policies and procedures./ppAssist in maintaining the patients record to facilitate filing and retrieval of information./ppParticipate in staff education./ppPerform other duties as assigned./ppGraduate of an accredited Nursing Program required./ppStrong leadership ability, independent thinking and decision-making ability; analytical problem-solving skills, sound judgment; excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to function in a team environment./ppBachelors Degree in Nursing preferred./ppPrevious experience in an outpatient office setting./ppCurrent licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania required./ppCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required./ppAct 33 with renewal/ppAct 34 with renewal/ppAct 73 Clearances/ppThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department./ppIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./ppTravel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations./ppActively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of LEAN principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements.
