Export Compliance Manager

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Export Compliance Manager in Falls Church, Virginia for an approximately four-month contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support global trade compliance activities with a focus on U.S. export and import regulations, internal investigations, and voluntary disclosures. The role may be performed hybrid or remotely, with preference for candidates located near Falls Church; the local team generally works onsite three days per week.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of export control experience, including investigations; OR master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Juris Doctor (JD) with 4+ years of export compliance investigation experience.
• Experience serving as an Empowered Official within the defense industry.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. export and import regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
• Experience conducting export compliance investigations and supporting preparation of voluntary disclosures.
• Experience using OCR EASE or OCR EMS export management software.
• Strong technical and regulatory writing skills.
• Experience researching export regulations and preparing correspondence for U.S. Government agencies.
• Ability to conduct interviews, analyze findings, and prepare clear written investigation summaries.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive compliance matters.
• Ability to develop and implement compliance processes and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently and within a heavily matrixed team environment.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• 45 years of experience serving as an Empowered Official.
• Experience managing voluntary disclosures involving both ITAR and EAR requirements.
• Defense or aerospace industry trade compliance experience.

What You'll Do

• Review business operations and processes to assess compliance with U.S. export and import regulations.
• Support internal trade compliance investigations involving potential instances of noncompliance.
• Analyze compliance issues, develop findings, and prepare draft voluntary disclosures.
• Conduct interviews and prepare written summaries supporting investigations.
• Research ITAR, EAR, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Prepare draft correspondence and submissions for U.S. Government agencies.
• Support compliance data calls, reporting requirements, recordkeeping, and file management.
• Participate in trade compliance working groups and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and revise compliance processes, procedures, and training materials.
• Advise internal stakeholders on export and import compliance requirements.
• Support audits, reviews, and other Global Trade Compliance activities as assigned.

Pay

• $73.81 per hour.
