We are searching for a full-time senior accountant to join our Client Accounting & Advisory team and assist in servicing one of our sophisticated government clients in the Northern suburbs of the Chicago area. This role will be based 100% on site at the client location. - Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
- Complete month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries.
- Perform complex bank and investment account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of all cash-related transactions.
- Prepare financial reports and assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and other government reporting requirements.
- Assist with the preparation for the annual external audit, including compiling schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Monitor budgets and analyze revenues and expenditures.
- Assist with grant reporting, capital asset accounting, and other assigned accounting functions.
- Provide financial support and guidance to other departments and team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 3-7 years of Government/Municipal accounting experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or actively pursuing a license
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed
- Strong organizations skills and detail-oriented
- Highly motivated, self-starter
