JOB DESCRIPTION

Estimator-Commercial Construction

One of the top full-service General Contractors in the DMV market is seeking an Estimator that is well versed in ground-up Commercial Construction. Throughout the years they have perfected their service and company culture producing many long tenured employees (over half of the workforce has been there 10+ years!) and repeat clients! Estimator Responsibilities:

* Estimators are responsible for developing accurate and complete job estimates.
* The Estimator identifies project labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, written specifications and related documents.
* Conducts site visits and attends pre-bid meetings to understand the project scope.
* Conducts review and take-off of blueprints.
* Gathers subcontractor pricing and conducts scope review.
* Evaluate subcontractor bids to bid documents and plans to ensure that the full scope of work was considered.
* Calculates costs of subcontract labor, general conditions, and materials.
* Collaborates with the client to help them achieve their project cost budget through consideration of plan details, alternate material/finishes and building methods.

Estimator Qualifications:

* Must possess a working knowledge of commercial construction documentation and pricing; able to read plans and specifications and translate them into estimates
* BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred
* 2+ years of experience estimating Commercial Construction projects is required
* 1+ years of experience estimating all divisions of multimillion dollar Commercial ground-up projects is required
* Needs full comprehension of drawings
* Proficient with computers, tablets and smartphones, including typing skills
* Willingness to work necessary hours to ensure all project estimating needs are being met
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with RFIs, Change orders, is highly preferred
