Job Summary: The Packager/Packer is responsible for ensuring that everything is in order prior to shipping and supports production and sanitary procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Not Applicable for this position
Schedule: Second Shift: Monday through Friday 3:30pm - finish production (including occasional Saturday's)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures product protection by checking package integrity for good seals, proper price, code date, tape color, and product quality according to standard procedures.
- Works in a team to pack product by assembling boxes, taking product off conveyor line, taping boxes, and placing on skid, and pull sealed cases off automated packaging lines
- Ensures the product is free from contamination by following rules of good manufacturing practices for disease control, personal practices, and uniform policy
- Stack sealed cases on skids according to staking procedures under pallet pattern
- Recognizes problems, alerts machine operator/mechanics according to standard procedures
- Prepares cases for use on the next shift by labeling information on the side of the box to include brand name, quantity, weight, and product type
- Maintains communication with other departments, employees, and management to notify them of any issues that may restrict the efficiency of production
- Follows SOP, SSOP, GMP, and general safety policies
- Additional Duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to calculate basic math and read
- Ability to actively listen to instructions and understand basic English
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience necessary
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Ability to be on your feet for an 8-hour shift
- Ability to climb on ladders and maneuver through equipment
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
