About Duke Regional Hospital

With 388 beds it is the second largest of Duke Health's four hospitals and offers a comprehensive range ofmedical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight-loss surgery, women's services, and heart and vascular services.
Location: Duke Regional Hospital (DRH) - In-person
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Can be adjusted to 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM if needed)

Occupational SummaryCollect, review, analyze, and evaluate circumstances regarding all product-related issues to develop action plans and provide recommendations to Health System Supply Chain Leadership and Clinical Leadership. You will conduct ongoing reviews and analyses of stock-outs, recalls, andassigned product lines to assure overall acceptability, product standardization, and cost containment. Develop and execute plans to manage protocols and logistics, ensuring successful inventory levels across all service lines. Perform as a frontline liaison between Duke University Health System (DUHS) and supply vendor representatives for patient care medical products.
Work Performed (Key Responsibilities)Inventory, Stock-Out, & Recall Management
Actively problem-solve and make decisions regarding product recalls, back-orders, and vendor stock-out issues hospital-wide.
Review stock-out reports from vendors, compare information to current on-hand inventory, analyze data trends, and present recommendations to Supply Chain Leadership.
Work alongside Leadership and Procurement to address backorders, managing appropriate actions and customer communications.
Coordinate directly with vendors and clinical staff to identify opportunities to procure supplies directly from vendors (preventing inventory lapses) or to identify possible substitutes.
Actively engage with 3rd-party vendors to obtain products or identified substitutes.
Develop and execute plans for the removal of vendor/manufacturer-recalled items to fulfill RASMAS requirements and present findings to Health System Supply Chain Leadership.
Lead projects with clinical staff to identify and evaluate new product opportunities through the Hospital Product Standardization Committee, maximizing the use of cost-effective products.
Formulate, prepare, and implement product plans and strategies that contribute to performance, financial objectives, cost containment, and quality.
Function as a project leader, monitoring and managing the progress of new alternative products through value analysis programs.
Develop standard specifications for approved DUHS products and clinically acceptable substitutions.
Conduct detailed product and market assessments to prepare strategic and operational plans for introducing new products/services (includes trials, data reporting, logistics for product placement, procurement, and goal evaluation).
Serve as a liaison, establishing and maintaining effective communication between departments, physicians, patient care services, and other professionals regarding product protocols.
Regularly visit key customers and clinicians to understand their needs and build long-term relationships.
Define and develop detailed communication plans, seminars, and educational tools to increase customer knowledge of cost-effective products within the Health System.
Facilitate improved knowledge of medical products within Supply Chain Management by coordinating periodic workshops or in-services.
Coordinate with Procurement to keep staff and customers informed on the status of product conversions.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others to achieve organizational and team goals.
Respond to customers' needs professionally and navigate a computerized work environment efficiently.
Perform additional job functions (within reason) necessary to ensure safe patient care practices as directed by supply chain management.
Detail-Oriented: Highly attentive to details, with a strong focus on managing storeroom inventory.
Tech-Savvy: Decent computer skills required; advanced skills are highly preferred.
Strong Communicator: Comfortable and effective in handling vendor and clinician communications via phone and email.
Knowledgeable: Background in inventory management and knowledge of medical products are preferred.
Education
Generally requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, and/or another related field.
Master's degree or degree in Nursing is preferred.
3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management.
OR 3 years of RN experience in a role that included involvement in the supply chain process.
Valid Driver's License may be required.
