Temp Faculty (NonCredit): Certified Nurse Assistant Instructor

Pool Position The Workforce and Economic Development Division (W.E.D.) of Metropolitan Community College is the leader in innovative workforce solutions and community enrichment. Temporary faculty serve the college and students by providing high-quality instruction and engaging in instruction related activities. Temporary faculty are expected to perform all duties associated with teaching an assigned course to include all course preparation, meeting with students, entering grades, and other duties related to course delivery. Upon employment temporary faculty must maintain updated credentials as required by the college’s accrediting agencies. Employment Restrictions An annuitant of the Missouri Retirement System must adhere to the applicable regulations. Employees, who possess a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate, may be required to participate in the Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS). Temporary faculty may be assigned up to ten (10) work units per semester for fall and spring. An additional two (2) work units per term may be assigned with approval from the dean and notification to human resources but no more than twenty-four (24) work units in an academic year. For summer, work units may not exceed 3.5 work units in June, and 3.5 work units in July. Noncredit courses taught during the normal academic year are included in these limitations. Combination Load Maximum: If a temporary faculty member’s load includes work unit and clock hour assignments, the combined weekly clock hour total will be monitored to adhere to temporary faculty assignment limitations. Employees assigned responsibilities through Workforce and Economic Development may be compensated based on assigned workunits or clock-hours, in accordance with MCCKC guidelines for temporary employment. Essential Functions As an instructor you will prepare students to perform basic nursing skills for individuals in long-term care facilities, adult daycare centers, hospitals or homes. Through training students will gain the knowledge of various requirements in the nursing field. Study the theory of being a CNA Participate in skilled lab training and supervised clinical training. Practice nursing skills such as vital signs, bathing techniques, feeding techniques, handwashing, gloving, skin care, transfer techniques, dressing and grooming to prepare students for the Missouri CNA assessment. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications: A Registered Nurse licensed in Missouri or in possession of a temporary permit from the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The licensee shall not be subject to current disciplinary action. Two (2) years of nursing experience and at least one (1) year experience in a LTC facility within the last five (5) years. The applicant must provide documentation showing the requirements are fulfilled. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) will evaluate and verify the applicant’s credentials (resume). The DHSS will notify the individual in writing within seven (7) to ten (10) working days regarding the request. An applicant will attend the state approved instructor train-the-trainer course once hired. When the individual has successfully completed the course, their name will be added to the Department’s CNA Instructor. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
