Estimator - Asphalt Paving- Construction

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join a growing construction team in Durham. This individual will play a key role in the pre-construction process by preparing accurate and competitive project estimates for a variety of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong estimating experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and material requirements
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and identify potential project challenges
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Excel to develop accurate bids
• Collaborate with project managers to support budgeting and project execution
• Maintain organized records of estimates, budgets, and project costs
• Assist with cost tracking, Work in Progress reporting, and cost-control efforts throughout projects

Requirements:

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Minimum of 5 years of estimating or construction management experience
• Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license required; contractor’s license or certifications are a plus
