About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Springfield, Massachusetts. The RN will provide care across a combined medical telemetry and intermediate care/step-down unit serving patients with complex medical and respiratory conditions.

Common diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, DKA, HHS, alcohol withdrawal, GI bleeding, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, UTI, and respiratory failure. Candidates must be comfortable caring for both medical telemetry and intermediate-care patients and floating to other qualified units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Intermediate Care, Step-Down, and Medical Telemetry patients based on acuity and clinical needs.

• Assess and monitor patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, metabolic disorders, pulmonary conditions, and other complex medical diagnoses.

• Manage patients requiring tracheostomies, ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, cardiac drips, and continuous telemetry monitoring.

• Recognize changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate nursing interventions, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and safely float to qualified nursing units as required based on staffing and patient-care needs.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 Years of Recent Intermediate Care, Step-Down, or Comparable Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse Experience Required.

• Current, Active Registered Nurse License Required; Applicable Massachusetts Practice Requirements Must Be Met Before Start.

• Current BLS/BCLS and ACLS Certifications Required.

• Experience With Tracheostomies, Ventilators, High-Flow Nasal Cannula, BiPAP, Cardiac Drips, and Telemetry Required.

• Candidate Must Reside More Than 90 Miles From the Assignment Location and Be Available for Night Shifts, Holiday Coverage, and Floating as Needed.

This contract opportunity is well suited for an experienced IMC/Step-Down RN with strong telemetry, respiratory, and high-acuity medical nursing skills.
