Job Description
Travel RN - Surgical Oncology

Schedule

Contract length: 16 weeks. Shifts: Days/Nights or Nights (12-hour shifts, rotating schedule). Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period.

Assignment Details

Patient population: Adults/Geriatrics; surgical oncology and related post-operative care. Census: 36 beds.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years total acute care RN experience, with at least 1 year PCU experience.
• Current acute care experience (worked consistently in the last 12 months).
• Valid compact or state nursing license required at the time of submission.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; preferred: ONS Chemo certification.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
• Key clinical skills: PCU/Telemetry care, chemotherapy administration, oncologic emergency management, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin & heparin drips, chest tube care, tracheostomy management, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, BiPAP/CPAP support.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in a mixed acuity unit.
• Monitor patient conditions and vital signs, including telemetry monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and post-op care.
• Respond to oncologic emergencies and manage critical situations efficiently.

Compliance / Notes

COVID-19 vaccine: Not required; Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only). Candidates must complete background checks, including fingerprinting, and these must be done promptly to meet compliance deadlines.
