Paint Booth Service & Sales Technician

Position Summary

Tecor-Intl is seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a paint booth system technician/estimating specialist. This position combines hands-on field service and troubleshooting of industrial paint booth systems with estimating, quoting, customer communication, and general office responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with equipment and solving problems but is also comfortable communicating with customers and working on a computer. This is a varied position where no two days are necessarily the same.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot, service, and repair industrial paint booth systems and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, airflow, heating, and control issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on paint booths, make-up air units, exhaust systems, fans, burners, motors, controls, and related equipment.
• Start up, test, and calibrate new and existing paint booth systems.
• Identify equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair or replacement.
• Work with customers to explain equipment issues and recommended solutions.
• Travel to customer facilities throughout Minnesota and surrounding states.
• Maintain accurate service reports and document work performed.
• Coordinate with contractors and other technicians when required.

Estimating & Quoting

• Prepare quotes for service work, repairs, replacement equipment, parts, and paint booth projects.
• Review customer requests and determine materials, equipment, labor, and outside services required.
• Obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Develop professional proposals and quotations.
• Follow up with customers on outstanding quotes and service opportunities.
• Assist with larger paint booth and make-up air unit estimates as experience develops.

Office & Administrative Responsibilities

• Answer customer calls and respond to service requests.
• Schedule service calls and coordinate technician availability.
• Communicate with customers regarding project status, service needs, and scheduling.
• Enter and maintain customer and job information in the company CRM.
• Order parts and materials as needed.
• Assist with purchasing and vendor communication.
• Maintain organized job files, service records, and equipment documentation.
• Assist with other general office and operational duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to read and understand basic mechanical and electrical diagrams.
• Good understanding of motors, fans, burners, HVAC equipment, and electrical controls.
• Comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office, and CRM software.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field.
• Ability to read measurements, drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel and occasionally work outside normal work hours when required.
• Previous experience with industrial equipment, HVAC, electrical, automotive repair, manufacturing, or similar trades is preferred but not required.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded, curious, dependable, and willing to learn. You don't necessarily need to know paint booths when you start. The right person should be able to look at a piece of equipment, understand how it is supposed to work, figure out why it isn't working, and communicate the solution to the customer.

The position will require someone who can transition comfortably between working on equipment in the field and sitting at a desk preparing a quote or talking with a customer.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment.
• Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms.
• Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to heat, dust, noise, paint-related environments, and machinery.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.

Position Type: Full-Time
Travel: Primarily regional, with occasional overnight travel
