Job Summary/Position Overview Head Coach High school is performed for the purpose of assisting with the design and implementation of an activities program in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; providing supervision of student athletes during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in assisting the program activities; serving as a positive role model to student athletes; and serving as the liaison between the school and program and other schools both within and/or outside the district, the community and various organizations. Must meet the minimum Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) requirements Pre-Approved Extra-Duty Salary Schedule As per Extra-Duty Assignment Letter FLSA Status: Non- Exempt Qualifications Education and Experiences Bachelor's Degree or serving as an approved Assistant Coach for a minimum of TWO school years at a participating MSHSAA school (required) Missouri Teaching Certification or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (required) ? CPR, First Aid Certification and National Federation of High School Concussion Duties And Responsibilities Adheres to all adopted Board of Education policies. Adheres to all MSHSAA policies and PHL Coaches Handbook. Establish a strong connection with elementary, middle school, and senior high coaches within the assigned sport. Work closely with the Athletic Director to develop a consistent K-12 athletics. Attend, organize, and support approved elementary and middle school athletic events, camps, clinics, and program activities. Build relationships with elementary and middle school students and encourage them to continue participating in Jennings athletics. Collaborate with elementary and middle school coaches to identify areas of development and opportunities for improvement. Provide guidance, resources, drills, practice ideas, and coaching support to feeder-level coaches when appropriate. Encourage student-athletes to remain in and support the Jennings School District athletic programs. Assist the Athletic Department in increasing participation numbers at every level. Help develop a clear progression of skills so student-athletes are prepared for the next level of competition. Support recruitment and retention efforts within the Jennings School District. Participate in the development of long-term plans for the assigned spot, including equipment, facilities, staffing, camps, participation, and program growth. Work with the Athletic Director to evaluate the strength of the feeder system and identify gaps that need to be addressed. Ensure players attend mandatory study hall. Collaborate with the community and administration for mandatory community service projects. ? Teach the fundamentals of the game and help develop players on and off the court/field. Ensure adherence to school, district, and athletic association policies; monitor student eligibility; enforce discipline; and oversee athlete safety, including injury prevention and care. Promote the philosophy that Jennings Athletics is one program from elementary school through high school and not separate programs operating independently. Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, and conditioning programs; assess player performance; assign positions and playing time; and provide individualized feedback to enhance athletic growth. Attend meetings, conferences, and clinics; maintain professional memberships; recruit and evaluate assistant coaches; and collaborate with school staff to align athletic and educational goals. Develop practice schedules, game strategies, and year-round conditioning plans; maintain equipment and facilities; manage athletic fees and awards; and coordinate with assistant coaches and athletic directors. Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and personal development. Also, serve as a role model and mentor for student-athletes. Perform other duties as assigned. Work in environment that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions. Environmental Requirements Evening and weekend work may be required.
