Saw Operator

This role focuses on safely operating a large Hydmech saw to cut steel to precise specifications while supporting material handling, inventory control, and documentation processes in a busy production environment. The saw operator ensures accurate cutting, efficient workflow, and proper organization of steel materials to keep projects on schedule and the steel yard running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Operate a large Hydmech saw safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
• Cut steel to specified sizes based on provided cut lists and project requirements.
• Verify measurements with accuracy to at least 1/16 inch using a tape measure and related tools.
• Perform basic saw maintenance, including blade checks, cleaning, and fluid level checks.
• Load and unload steel deliveries using a tow motor or forklift in a safe and controlled manner.
• Move, stage, and organize heavy steel materials to support production needs and maintain workflow.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized steel yard and work area.
• Track cut lists and record completed cuts accurately for production and inventory purposes.
• Maintain a small stock inventory of steel materials and update counts on a regular basis.
• Monitor low-stock materials and communicate replenishment needs promptly.
• Scan, sign for, and enter steel deliveries into the system following established procedures.
• Fill out and attach tags for incoming steel to ensure proper identification and traceability.
• Process receivers and related documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Order steel based on cut lists and project requirements while following internal guidelines.
• Coordinate with purchasing or leadership when special or non-standard materials are required.
• Communicate shortages, delays, or material issues proactively to avoid production disruptions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, OH.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Fremont,OH.
