Purchasing Specialist

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our growing manufacturing team. This role is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, production components, packaging, and indirect supplies while ensuring inventory levels support production schedules and customer demand.The ideal candidate will build strong supplier relationships, manage purchase orders, coordinate domestic and international shipments, and work cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Sales, and Accounting to keep operations running efficiently.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, negotiating with suppliers, and making a direct impact on a company's supply chain and operational success.ResponsibilitiesSource and purchase raw materials, production components, packaging materials, and indirect suppliesCreate, issue, and manage purchase orders through an ERP systemMonitor supplier performance and ensure on-time deliveriesBuild and maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing when appropriateCoordinate domestic and international shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokersTrack shipments and proactively resolve delivery issuesMaintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and vendor recordsMonitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages before they impact productionVerify receiving documentation, invoices, and packing slipsSupport inventory accuracy and assist with cycle count investigationsCoordinate with internal departments to ensure materials are available to meet production schedulesIdentify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements throughout the supply chainQualifications3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience with ERP or MRP systems (Sage 100 experience is a plus)Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and logistics processesExperience coordinating domestic and international shipments is preferredStrong Microsoft Office skills, especially ExcelExcellent organizational, communication, and time management skillsAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesWhat We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys building relationships with suppliers while supporting internal teams.
