TRENTON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICTVACANCY DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Bus Driver SubstituteTerms of Employment: As Need BasisImmediate Supervisor: Transportation SupervisorQualifications/Preferences: High School Diploma or GEDCDL Endorsement preferred, but will train if the driver does not have a CDL EndorsementMeet health, mental, and physical requirementsFBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) yearsSkills: Be a mature individual Have the ability to conform to an established work schedule Have effective interpersonal skills Have the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner Have the ability to understand and follow instructions preciselyResponsibilities:Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following: Operate and transport school-aged children and other authorized personnel safely and efficiently over specified routes to and from school and various activities Maintain a clean and organized work environment Abides by all local, state, and federal traffic laws, rules, and regulations Transports students over specified routes according to time scheduled Maintains appropriate student conduct when students are on the bus and reports any student misconduct to the principal Performs daily mechanical checks on oil, gas, tires, lights, and doors Reports needed repairs to the Bus Garage Cleans bus daily Reports all accidents promptly and complete required reports Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job Checks the bus at the end of each run to ensure that all students have left the bus Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation SupervisorMaintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times Physical Requirements:Must have the ability to:In case of an emergency must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in needWork outdoors in a variety of weather Climb up and down stairs Have mobility required to ensure the safety of childrenRepetitive bending, stretching, and stooping Lift 75 to 100 lbs General Requirements:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position.
