Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Psychiatric Geriatric, Psychiatric Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1830-0700) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current nursing license Certifications: BLS certification, CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) required Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) manages and coordinates nursing care activities during hospitalization. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation. The RN directs and is responsible for other personnel involved in client care. The RN maintains professional accountability for all nursing care provided. Demonstrates competency in nursing judgment. Maintains awareness of economic barriers to health care and acts accordingly. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing care needs for various clinical specialties. Will work with clients 18 years of age and older. Essential Functions and Duties: Ability to organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients. No performance deficiencies caused by failure to adapt to new techniques. Ability to direct others in health care delivery. Requires regular talking and hearing. Must be able to stand for 4-6 hours. Provides direct client care activities if required, following defined policies and procedures. Requires a concentrated level of attention. Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. Position Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. B.S.N. preferred or equivalent years of experience. Demonstrates clinical competence. Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional growth. Preferred Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate standard office equipment. Personal computer and printer proficiency including specific software applications. Physical Demands: Requires grasping and reaching with hands/arms. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when assisting clients. Requires bending, stooping, and walking. Requires good body mechanics to prevent injury. Function Duties and Responsibilities: Provides appropriate nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions for clients. Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees. Identifies problems and uses critical thinking skills to develop solutions. Creates a working climate that provides growth and satisfaction for personnel. Accurately and promptly implements physician orders. Prepares, administers, and records medications according to policy. Records information concisely, accurately, and completely. Complies with all infection control policies and procedures. Coordinates and provides emergency care as needed. Participates in training for personnel. Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action. Complies with all organization policies and assists in policy revision. Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication. Adjusts interventions based on guidelines as indicated. Demonstrates the ability to set priorities in providing safe client care. Complies with organization and department safety procedures. Contributes to the care of the environment by maintaining work areas. Maintains client rights, including confidentiality and privacy. Adapts easily to changes in work assignments and environment. Accepts working assignments according to care needs. Performs basic tasks in a timely manner with minimal guidance. Demonstrates willingness to work toward goals and objectives. Assists with the development and implementation of unit goals. Conducts group therapies as assigned. Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning and revises plan of care based on assessment. Promotes activities regarding process improvement.
