Senior AccountantAOC is the leading global supplier of specialty resins, gel coats, colorants and other formulations which enable customers to create robust, durable, and versatile coatings, protective barriers, colorants, visual effects, adhesives, and composites.AOC is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, team-driven Senior Accountant to join the Accounting/Finance team. This position will work closely with the Americas Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting team, plant controllers, and other finance professionals across the region. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the monthly financial close and reporting processes, including preparing and reviewing manual journal entries and account reconciliations, performing financial analysis, and supporting monthly management reporting. The role will also have meaningful involvement in financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of actual results compared to plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting, demonstrated analytical capabilities and sound business acumen. The candidate should be comfortable working across both accounting and FP&A activities, able to effectively manage changing priorities and deadlines, and demonstrate strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.ResponsibilitiesPlay key role in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparing manual journal entries and account reconciliationsReview assigned journal entries and account reconciliations, evaluating the appropriateness of accounting treatment and ensuring transactions are accurate, properly supported and approved, and recorded in accordance with company policies and established internal controls within a JSOX environmentLead the accounting/finance aspects of our customer rebate program; including interacting with Americas sales team on rebate contract setup and maintenance, reviewing sales contracts for revenue recognition matters, coordinating the recording of rebate accruals and payments, and overseeing quarterly reviews of rebate contract balances with sales and finance teamsManage the Americas lease accounting process in accordance with IFRS 16, including coordinating with procurement and finance teams to ensure portfolio of leases is accurate and updated; work with other finance team members to ensure accurate recording of needed additions/updates in lease accounting system and related journal entries and account reconciliationsSupport Americas Controller and Accounting Manager in preparation of the financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement) and other management reporting schedulesSupport internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules and supporting documentation and by responding to auditor inquiriesPerform periodic financial analysis, including actual versus budget, forecast, and prior-year variance analysis; Identify and communicate significant business drivers, trends, risks, and opportunitiesPartner with accounting, finance, and business teams to understand financial results and provide meaningful insights regarding business performancePlay an active role in the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes, including coordinating inputs from business partners, preparing financial projections, validating assumptions, consolidating submissions, and analyzing forecast resultsSupport FP&A activities and ad hoc financial analysis, including operating expense, capital spending, working capital, cash flow, profitability, and other analyses required to support management decision-makingParticipate in special projects and other accounting and financial analysis activities as requested by finance leadershipOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field required; MBA or master's degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus3-5 years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting (audit), or FP&ACPA certification or CPA candidate preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerpointExperience with Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar ERP systems preferred; Familiarity with lease accounting software and/or financial consolidation systems such as OneStream or Hyperion is a plusStrong understanding of financial accounting standards and financial reporting, demonstrated experience with accounting and financial processes; Experience with budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial variance analysis preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and conciselyDemonstrated sense of ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and urgency, with the ability to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlinesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial results, identify trends, and understand underlying business driversLegally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorshipMust be willing and able to work on-site in office 5 days/weekWhat We OfferCompetitive PayPaid Vacation and Holidays401(k) with Company Contributions and MatchingMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance - Effective the 1st of the Month After Hire!Health Savings Account (HSA)Company-Paid Life Insurance + Disability InsuranceTuition Reimbursement ProgramService Recognition RewardsPet Insurance
