Overview The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) provides experience, education and professional services to assist and support individuals in developing and maintaining recovery‑oriented, wellness‑focused lifestyles. Certification & Licensure Requirements Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) within 3 years – Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA) Narcan training within the first month of hire Experience Requirements Lived experience in recovery Other Requirements Advanced English reading, writing, and oral skills; communication with co‑workers and clients; maintain confidentiality; provide factual communication or decline to reveal information; project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor; basic computer knowledge (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing, Windows OS) Responsibilities Ensure patients receive comprehensive services: identification, assessment, discharge planning, and warm handoff Advocate, educate, support recovery and wellness; use evidence‑based approaches when patients are in crisis Engage patients and establish collaborative relationships for enrollment and adherence to discharge planning Assist in creating and documenting recovery plans in EMR Provide continuous care and follow‑up after discharge as needed Coordinate with insurance and community services to secure transportation and necessary care Educate patients and families on overdose, opioid use and naloxone administration; administer naloxone when appropriate Consult with patients, families, insurers and treatment providers to confirm coverage and affordability Collaborate with the Care Team, support documentation, audits and quality initiatives; maintain compliance with policies and procedures Participate in in‑service and competency training Compensation and Benefits The hourly rate for this position ranges from $15.91 to $25.77. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts, and the compensation model. The employer offers a comprehensive benefit package.
