Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, facilitating patient flow, managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and provide support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. Bonus Sign‑on bonus is reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria. Responsibilities Obtain vital signs Reconcile medications Collect patient history Facilitate patient flow Manage electronic health record (EPIC) Schedule appointments Process medication requests Handle prior authorizations Coordinate tests and procedures Perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy after competency Required Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting, including direct hands‑on patient care and performing clinical procedures such as vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines; OR graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands‑on patient experience Upon hire, all Medical Assistants must undergo a clinical competency assessment and successfully complete MA orientation Basic computer skills, experience with EMR system is a plus Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire Preferred Qualifications Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP, or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure Equal Employment Opportunity Baptist Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
