Sow Farm Supervisor

Overview Position: Sow Farm Supervisor Responsibilities Supervise a Sow Farm and related personnel, manage day-to-day tasks of the farm, and ensure production targets are met. Manage the research and control of animal selection and breeding practices to increase production efficiency and improve animal quality. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices. Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Collect and record production data. Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards. Create and manage employee work schedules. Revise and approve timecards and approve PTO, holidays, and sick days for employees. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. No hire/fire authority. Qualifications Two years of swine production experience, including at least one year of management duties on a swine farm, and experience following detailed standard operating procedures. Experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms. Experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing, and experience training in vaccination and artificial insemination in swine. Physical ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push/move up to 300 pounds.
