Area Director

After-School And Summer Program Coordinator

Assists operations and programs of more than one after-school and summer programs with primary concern for program development and implementation, quality, and safety. Additional duties include building and maintaining collaborative relationships with multiple different school district personnel, Club families and membership administration, and promoting/increasing awareness of Club impact to ensure attendance goals are met. Advise and assist site staff in the areas of volunteers, personnel management, and programs.

Responsibilities

Program Development

• Ensure after-school and summer programs achieve goals outlined in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Formula for
• Provide leadership and coaching to Unit Directors and Site Coordinators in the management of their designated Attends and participates in staff meetings and keeps sites advised of issues.

Leadership

• Ensures the development and implementation of a planning process for overall sites programs, including the development of annual program
• Encourage and support effective organization roles and functions for Unit Directors and Site Coordinators (acting as liaison to sites and keeping them advised of activities and needs) and administrative staff (grant report information; financial and budget documentation; media and community appearances). Hold staff accountable for organizational communications needs, as
• Prepares reports and written documentation for the purpose of evaluating the impact of the program.

Additional Responsibilities

• Serve as Site Coordinator or Unit Director for sites as needed.
• Assists other administrative and program personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of the organizations work activities.

Relationships

• Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel. Interacts regularly with the VP of Operation and other staff as assigned.
• External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent
• A minimum seven (7) years' work experience in a not-for-profit organization with applicable experience, specifically planning & supervising activities based on developmental needs of young people with an additional two (2) years of experience at the Director level, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, & coordinate operations; in personnel supervision, the recruitment & retention of key personnel; facility & budget management
• Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience in leading diverse work teams, developing an organization wide strategy for operational excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with direct supervisor and CEO
• Ability to plan, organize and manage complex initiatives with varied deliverables
• Ability to take initiative, whether working alone or with a team.
• Ability to deal effectively with conflict and discipline problems
• Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of budget control & management.
• Exceptional customer relation skills, interpersonal skills, relationship management skills, and the ability to always represent the Club in a professional manner.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
• Acceptable KS MVR (meets BGCSCKS insurance standards)
