JOB SUMMARYThe Medical Assistant provides clinical & administrative support to clinicians & other healthcare team members, offering various healthcare services to patients. As appropriate to the position's scope of authorized duties, the MA is required to have competent observational, clinical, critical thinking, communication, problem-solving & decision-making skills to meet patient needs & contribute to a positive care experience & work environment. The position works under the clinical supervision of the clinician for patient care activities, & the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESEscort patients to examination rooms, obtain vital signs and review and reconcile pertinent patient information and history in preparation for an appointment with the provider.Assists provider during examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries.Administer diagnostic tests and provider-approved procedures, such as immunizations and others, as assigned.Successfully collaborate and work in support of the team to ensure efficient and quality patient care.Clean and stock exam rooms to include procedure tables, equipment, and other work areas following current infection control and/or isolation procedure guidelines.Provides limited education and coaching for patients within scope, including discharge information and responding to follow-up questions- instructs patients about prescribed medications and dosing.Responds directly (in person) & indirectly (via phone or online) to patient questions requiring simple to complex clinical knowledge & skills.Collect and prepare laboratory specimens. Complete screenings and collect and review patient data per protocol. Follows up on test results as directed by healthcare Providers.
